What is an IAS officer

Qualifications to become an IAS officer

The Preliminary Examination
The Main exam

The Preliminary Exam is the first stage of UPSC exam i.e. to become an IAS officer, first of all you have to clear the Preliminary Exam. The Main exam
Main exam is the second phase of UPSC exam, just like clearing the first exam, it is very difficult, there are 9 papers in it. This main exam exam is divided into two parts.
1 qualifying exam – it consists of two papers, both papers are of 300-300 marks.
2 Merit Examination- It consists of 7 papers and seven papers are of 250-250 marks.
